Hey, I’m new!

Hey everyone! I am new to backyard chickens! I originally had 15 chickens, 5 buff Orpingtons, 5 barred Plymouth rocks, and 5 road Island reds. I adopted a rooster (unknown breed) who had serious feet issues and I used previous posts on BYC to help solve the problem. I took in 3 more Easter egger hens after loosing 2 hens to a fox! All of this happened in little over a year and I have 17 chickens currently. 16 hens and one rooster with a stationary coupe and two different chicken runs.
So thankful for the previous advice and look forward to posting issues if they come up!

Thank you for joining our friendly community 😊

I found that soaking their feet and legs in Epsom salts helped my chickens. I would remove any scales that loosened up then rub in caster oil

Secondly. When it was more serious I would add a little alcohol rub into the Epsom salt water and soak for at least 20 minutes or more if you can.
Then as I've said removing any loose scales before wiping over the legs and feet with more alcohol rub plus the oil as mentioned. Oil is always last.

To add, if you don't presently have caster oil use olive oil.
