Very new! Don't even have any yet.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None

(3) What breeds do you have?
Thinking about White Leghorn or Rhode Island Reds. Advice welcome!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Knowing exactly where my eggs come from, and hearing their clucks and crows. =)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I ride and train horses.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I work from home and homeschool my three children. I also recently bought my first house! God has truly blessed me.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I found it on a google search for some newbie questions I have and joined right away! I'm eager to learn everything I can about this new adventure.

Howdy Mamie! Welcome to Backyard Chickens! You will love this community of intelligent, experienced "chicken people"! Leghorns are a little flighty, but wonderful layers of huge white eggs. People say that Rhode Island Reds are mean and grumpy, but I have one and she is a real sweetie! My Orpingtons are the friendliest even though I didn't/don't hand raise them. They jump on my lap now! Wyandottes are pretty and barred rocks too. Easter Eggers will give you delightful blue or greenish eggs! They are all wonderful in my book! Get some soon and enjoy. By the way, your kids are going to love having chickens! :hugs
