Hey my name is Tanith
I live in the U.K and have two chickens and two ducks
Hope everyone had a great xmas and new year
I have one Orpington drake and a Aylesbury female I also have two grey hybrid chickens

Just one quick question the other day my female duck was attacked by a fox and she had to have stitches I've kept her in the house as she needs to recover but now her mate keeps attacking her when he sees her, once she is better how can I reintroduce them, this is the first time they have been apart and they were a mating pair and are 7 months old
Thankyou everyone
Tanith

Hello welcome to BYC.

People have problems like that sometimes when they reintroduce flock members after they've been absent for a while. Do you have a separate pen or something you can keep your female duck in? You can keep her in the pen and put her next to the mallards run or wherever you're keeping him. That way they can see and communicate with each other without getting physical.

Welcome!

Sorry to hear that your duck was attacked but great news that she is making a recovery. I have no experience with ducks but if they are similar in integration to chickens, x2 on what Flock Master64 suggested.

I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

I keep her indoors in a pen but I also let her tone about although I do have to keep cleaning up after her lol
Her mate comes into the house if I have the door open and I watch them he also looks At her through the patio doors.
Thankyou for the help
Tanith
