Welcome. Are you aware that a sick quail can spread it's illness to your chickens? It's funny u mention potty training because I had just heard about that and was considering it until I realized that that would be way too much work especially being that I have 2 dogs and 2 quails to tend to. One of the quails blind and the other sick. Ay ay.
I sometimes catch the one rooster pecking at one particular female and I end up having to remove her and bring her with me so that he doesn't hurt her. At this point I really don't know what to do with him. I hope he grows out of it.The one crowing is the dominant and the others won't crow, yet, because they haven't worked up the nerve to fight for their place in the pecking order. Fighting may force you to rehome some of the males.
Another concern is how you will keep more than one cockrel without them harming your females.
Actually by sick I mean that there's something wrong with her leg. The toes seem to be twisting in a strange position and so she has difficulty walking. I keep the quails in a separate flight cage. Perhaps u could tell me what's wrong with her and how I could help her. Thanks.Welcome. Are you aware that a sick quail can spread it's illness to your chickens?
