Hey Nifty...has anyone suggested...

If it means that roosters get loving homes instead of being sent to freezer camp, then all the better.

I also think it's a terrific idea! I would use it!

Before I got my chickens, I ordered some "chicken feeders" from a lady on ebay. I got a dozen of those little round chick feeders, which are awesome... but really, I have six hens, do I need a dozen chick feeders? I've given away two, we use 4, and I have 6 sitting here collecting dust. I would love to give them to someone who could use them.

Maybe also include a trade/barter area with the freebie area, as well. A lot of people, myself included, kinda feel funny about taking something "for free", even though it's perfectly okay to do so. For example, right now we only have 1 girl laying so I had to buy eggs to do some baking this weekend. Maybe someone close to me needs these chick feeders and has extra eggs they coulda traded me for them. That kind of thing.

Thanks for the ideas and thoughts. We do currently have a great system for this, post in the BSA section appropriate for the items you want to offer for free or trade and just put the price as "$0.00". In the title and body of the post, state either that the item is free or what you want to trade with/for.

We probably won't create a whole new system, but maybe a new option to have a "free" button and then a page that only lists items that are free?

The new option sounds even better, Nifty. I hadn't approached it that way. If we could just somehow get free things all in one area, that's the main idea I think.

Ditto to what Shelley said.

I do look in the BSA area and do often see freebies, but I think a freebie/swap thread or button would be in order.

Hmmm... threads, buttons... is being online like sewing class? heheh sorry, sometimes I just can't help m'self...
