Hey Northerners: What is the absolute coldest air temps your chickens have experienced happily!

I live on the North Dakota Minnesota border and my coop thermometer says 0 Fahrenheit but my roosters combs are frostbitten. What can I do about it?

You can put Vaseline on his combs and wattles to help prevent frostbite, if he will let you. :)

Thank you!!

Well, this morning when I went out to feed it was -25.  The girls were up and moving around in the coop,  I doubt they will go out in the run though.  I don't have a heat lamp on them.   I am just having a hard time keeping the water from freezing up.   And I am not a northerner,  I'm in Southern Utah!
I went to the feed store to buy a heated waterer but it was too expensive for just six birds, so we made one using a cookie tin. Drill a hole on the side to put the cord and metal piece of your light socket thru. Use a 40 watt bulb. Place the cookie tin on a cinder block. It gets warm enough to keep the water from freezing and no fire danger since its all enclosed. It was a do-it-yourself project on the ChickenChick website. It takes all of 15minutes to build. I
