Happy spring everyone! I grew up on a small horse ranch near the shores of the Great Salt Lake. My family raised and raced quarter horses, but we also occasionally raised calves, piglets, and chicks. The piglets were always my favorite! I’ve remained a farm girl at heart, even though I marrried a man who is as urban as they come! In 15 years married, I’ve slowly managed to talk him into a garden, dwarf fruit trees, berry patches, 2 dogs, and rabbits. I’ve been working on getting the ok for a couple hens, but I got impatient and started some chicks for a ‘classroom project’ with my 2nd graders. My first small batch produced 4 adorable chicks, and now I’m hooked. I’ve now got a second batch of chicks in the incubator, and ducklings in another. I also have a patient hubby who just shakes his head at me every time I say, “I have an idea...”.

It's always nice when the hubby starts giving in to your dreams. You might be back on a farm again before you know it! Best wishes starting your own flock!
