We got her and the golden comet roo together at a week old oct 15th.

She should be laying anytime now. Is it normal for rhode islands to beddown on the floor!?

She should be laying anytime now. Is it normal for rhode islands to beddown on the floor!?

She should be laying by April or May, if she has a perch, she should sleep on it, maybe she prefers the floor?

So we built our chicken coop from theinside of our barn. In the coop its HUGE. But my husband has a board that he made into a perch plus we have two shelves thatwere built in that he is making into chicken boxes for them to lay in. But for some reason she and the roo prefer the floor lol. Didnt know ifthats normal or notlol

We just got some palettes to spiff up the lay area.
Ill post pics ofthe setup and my hen and roo too!
Im excited tosee how the 5babies will turn outthough.
Trying to get my husband to get a 10 pack of easter eggers and do the incubator thingtoo.o

Any suggestions on what to start out with incubation and what one to go with? Im thinking of no morethan 7-12 eggs hatching at time.

I would recommend you just order the chicks from a hatchery, you can get them sexed and different breeds. If you hatch, you would end up with 5 boys and 5 girls, sometimes more boys and you have to to sell them or eat them

Thats what our plan is to eat them. Their babies at least.
