Hi Everybody!
I’m Allison and I’m really excited to explore this site once I’ve properly introduced myself of course.
I am a bird lover first and foremost and chickens have held a special place in my heart for years. Unfortunately, my experience with chickens could be described as long distance. Sometimes It’s holdIng one at a fair, other times It’s me watching someone’s Instagram Story when they show off their flock. Basically what I’m saying is I am very new but I’ve Loved the idea of owning them one day, and that day has finally come! I currently have 0 chickens but my first 15 are coming a week from today! I’ve got 5 Salmon Faverolles, 5 Buckeye, and 5 Easter Eggers on the way. In the future I might look into getting more heritage breeds that need some love. I think my favorite things about chickens are their versatility and character. They can offer companionship and nourishment in the same go! A two for one lol.
As for me personally, I’m currently a 25 year old stay-at-home cat mom who enjoys painting and the occasional Nintendo game. I live South of San Jose in California with my boyfriend and all the family pets including my own cat Sterling who owns me and not the other way around, as much as I’d hate to admit. I am looking into going back to school after all this crazy pandemic nonsense subsides but I was a lifeguard in between looking for a more degree appropriate occupation. You’d be surprised how many people get up at 4:30 am just to swim a few laps.
My reasoning for joining is to further my knowledge of chickens as a whole. I feel that with the amount of experience here I am bound to learn something, and if I‘m not then I’m doing something wrong
