I hope I can join the community without messing up the pecking order to much.. Anyways, I have no chickens, ducks, geese, swans, or any of that type. But I'm converting a shed in my backyard into a coop and building a run. In the spring I hope to have little chicks running around!

Thanks! I'm considering buying a female silkie, and waiting for to get broody, then putting barred eggs under her. Other than that I've considered Easter Eggers, but I've heard they are not very intelligent.

Not quite sure yet!

Welcome - Chickens have pecking order but we don't - "the Forum folks" seem to like people who like chickens and poultry in general. Glad that you joined us!

Thank you all for being so kind! I've postponed the project for a while, as I haven't the time right now, but by spring there WILL be little chickens in my yard.
