HEY! Where's my EGGS??

Seems molting is a sort of group effort.

But don't you see feathers in their bedding when they molt?
You should see the teensy little green egg my runner laid today.

no i dont see many feathers in the bedding when they molt but there are a few extra out in the yard. i normaly figure it out from first the lac of eggs then there necks get scruffy.

Ok - I'll watch for that. They were all born last April so they may be due for it, the campbell's feathers are practically bleached blond! The welsh has had several big-piles-of-feathers molts and except for laying later and later each day she has been the least affected, so this theory fits too.

The other two have resumed laying, the welsh took a total of two days off and the runner only one.
But the campbell hasn't laid for a week now. I have seen a couple of her feathers in the yard though, so it probably is a molt. She seems otherwise OK, no strange poop or anything. She is a little less active than the others but she was always like that. My deepest fear was that she may be egg bound, but I would have seen other signs by now, I think?
Maybe the fact that they are all different breeds (although the exact same age) puts them on different molt schedules.
So I have relaxed about it, I think they are OK.
