“I let them free range in the yard and I love my little posse of greeters when I go outside.” ME TOO!! Geese running towards you every time you go outside is THE BEST!I’m Brittany and I first started my love for chickens at my dad’s chicken farm as a kid. He raises meat birds and has over 20,000 chickens in each house. I tried meat birds and processed them myself. I then traded the meat birds for egg layers. I’ve had chickens, turkeys, ducks, and guineas.
I currently have a smaller flock of 6 hens, one roo, two runner ducks, and two Toulouse geese. I’ve never owned geese before and I am enjoying watching them grow. I let them free range in the yard and I love my little posse of greeters when I go outside.
I’m really bad at writing about myself so I am answering some of the questions too.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I first got chickens when I was 20, so I have had them for about 16 years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 7
(3) What breeds do you have? Silkie, buff Brahma, buff Orpington, Easter egger, 2 ISA brown, and araucana
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? The endless entertainment.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Fishing, snowboarding, shooting
