Just wanted to say hey and to thank yall for such an informative site you have here. I have been reading for about 3-4 weeks and joined last week but now I have my coup and run built for my 2 new girls. A Rhode Island Red and Green-Legged Hatch. They are awesome. I am new to this whole thing and this site has really helped me along! My wife and little 4 yr. old boy are infatuated with these girls.

Thanks Yall. I've had a pretty good time with this. As of now there is no open areas for ventilation. But, the coop part definitely is not air tight. the way the sides are lapped there are some small gaps here and there but none over i'd say a quarter inch. How much ventilation would you suggest? I can easily add a vent. Also I was kinda wondering there is 21 square feet in the run area, and 12 square feet in the coop. I was originally wanting 4 hens but now that I see them in there I really want them to be comfortable. Would 2 more infringe on them being "comfortable"?

Hi and :welcome

They are very beautiful chickens!
We have one wall of our coop made of a couple of sheets of hardware cloth for ventilation, but I think yours looks cool how you have it. :)

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D
