Every spring, when I walk through my local feed store or TSC and hear peep-peep-peep, I say "Next year I'm getting chickens!" Well, here it is next year.
I live on a farm that was DH's great-grandfather's. We moved here so I could have my horses at home. Well, that was why I moved here, anyway.
Now that I've spent the past fifteen years learning how (and how not!) to build fences and run-in sheds and riding rings and paint and rehabilitate old farmhouses - I think I'm ready to build a chicken coop and yard.
I want a small flock of laying hens to keep us in fresh eggs. And I'd also like to add a flock of guineas to help with bug control and, well, just because I think they're cool.
Since I know absolutely nothing about chickens or guinea fowl, I'm here to absorb some knowledge. Looking forward to getting to know y'all - and hoping to maybe find some fellow Carolinians amongst you. I'm right near the NC/SC border, on the coast.
