Hey you Barbary keepers...

Hi

I have 2 Barbary partridge hens due to arrive Wednesday and then 2 male Barbarys due to arrive some time next week. I have a cage that is 4' long x 2' wide. Is that large enough for 2 pairs? If there is only 1 week between the time the girls will be in the cage to when I will introduce the boys, is that enough to where the girls might attack the boys due to territory? Would it be necessary for me to keep the females in a small temporary cage until the boys arrive them introduce them all into the 4x2 cage?

It is certainly not big enough to have happy birds. You should be able to give each pair about 30 sq feet if you want them to breed and be happy. The more rom the better. I dont know anyone who has them in a smaller set up then that.
I recommend you give them a lot more room.

*bump* Any other Barbary partridge keepers on here? I have since put up a raised wire pen for them but I have some questions for other Barbary keepers...The 2 breeders I got my birds from do not go online much AT ALL

i think barbary same genitica as chuckar and think the same procudures much been implemented as for chuckars. Avairy of 2m x 3m x 1.8 will be fine. Just put a few rocks on top of each other they love it.
