(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We’ve had chickens for nearly 2 years now on our little homestead along with 2 Khaki Campbell ducks
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? About 25
(3) What breeds do you have? A silkie rooster ( Fluff) and a silkie hen ( Queenie ), a seabright rooster and 3 hens, various other leghorn hens, barred rocks, Wyandottes, Rhode Island Reds
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love their personality and the fact that we can have fresh eggs pretty much anytime we want.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, preserving food, homeschooling my children, riding motorcycles and studying the Bible and listening to sermons, reading Biblical living books. I also love learning about homesteading on YouTube.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I’m a stay at home momma to 9 living children. 2 are on their own, married and living independently and the rest are all still at home. My husband of 24 years, is a driver for Coca-Cola. Our oldest is 24 and our youngest is 3. I homeschool and wrangle our little homestead along with our giant lab/pit mix and 3 cats. We’ve also owned rabbits and goats but just got rid of those. We live in the outskirts of town, in the county, on a half acre at the foot of a mountain range. We hope one day to buy land and spread out some more!
