Yep we got the Azurs for their blue eggs, I haven't heard of prairie bluebell before but maybe they're not yet available in France. I only live 1 ½ hours from Marans and they lay beautiful eggs so we really had to get some of those.Your intro caused me to do one of my favorite things -- learn a bit about breeds I'm unfamiliar with.
A quick Google search informed me that Azurs lay blue eggs (I have a Prairie Bluebell Egger for those) and that the Coucou de Rennes and Grise Cendrée du Poitou appear to be good laying, heritage breeds (two great attributes). So, thanks for helping me become better educated!
Like you, I have a couple of Marans (beautiful eggs) and a Sussex (who likes to keep an eye on anything and everything I do), among my flocks.

I've read that Azurs don't go broody but my 2 definitely did and have been good joint mothers to the 5 chicks that hatched. Though one of them can flap and climb over our 10 ft fence so she's currently in confinement. They're a bit wild, skittish and not keen on human interaction; very small and light and lay beautiful blue eggs really reliably (when they're not in mother mode)
Omg! Those two mamas are adorable! (The entire flock is adorable!)Thanks everyone for your welcoming greetings. Yes I have got photos, attached. View attachment 3901687View attachment 3901688View attachment 3901680
