Are you thinking of basic supplies for chicks? For that, you need:
Brooder (for them to live in for the first few weeks)
Chick waterer or shallow bowl with stones or marbles
Chick feeder
Some sort of bedding
A heat source (brooder heat plate recommended)
Chicks will need constant looking-after. They dirty their water constantly, kick bedding into their feeder, etc. If you want friendly hens, you should also interact with them a lot. The seniors may enjoy playing with the chicks and, later on, sitting with the hens.
