Hello fellow backyard chicken enthusiasts! Its good to be among my own people--even if virtually
So the deal is that my long time gf and I now live in the Temescal District in North Oakland in an apartment complex with no yard space and barely enough people space (ha) She is from Memphis Tennessee (shout outs to our Memphibians!) and I am from Springfield Missouri. My family has a farm with cattle, horses, a donkey, and chickens back home and I am very familiar with farm/garden life. Before we moved to Cali in September of 2011 we lived in Savannah Georgia where we contributed to the construction and maintenance of a backyard/urban chicken coop and 8 chickens that arrived by mail(!) Long story short, we live here now and as mentioned above haven't the room for our own coop, but would LOVE to help out with a neighbor's coop in any way needed
We have also been keeping our organic waste in the freezer with the hopes of stumbling upon a neighbor with a coop who wouldn't mind us feeding our guaranteed organic waste to their chickens and/or just helping out with construction of a coop/maintenance/etc. We are decent people who are looking to contribute in a community coop or private coop. That is the entirety of why I have joined this here group. So, please get back to me with any questions, I hope this leads us to a neighbor that is cool! Thanks for readin'!
