Hi, everyone! My name is Kate. I currently live in Taylorsville, North Carolina. We recently moved here from Hanford, California. I am originally from Las Vegas, NV and my husband, Michael, is originally from Pollock, LA. We love it here in NC! Our new home has such a bigger yard and since we eat eggs like crazy, we knew we'd want our own flock when we have the yard to do so. I'll get started on the template!
Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
---Yes, we are new to chickens! We have been researching them for a year now because we knew we'd want some when we moved to NC to help with insects and supply fresh eggs.
How many chickens do you have right now?
---Right now we have 3 hens. Named Hay-hay, Dash and Poppy. However, we plan on getting 3 more once our new large chicken coop is built in a few weeks, so we've been doing a lot of research on how to slowly integrate and quarantine and all the necessary precautions to doing so.
What breeds do you have?
---The three hens we have right now are Red Sexlinks, we will have 3 easter eggers in about a month once our new coop is built so we can start the quarantine process.

---Lots of researching brought me to this site repeatedly and I've received a lot of great insight and information from it!
What are some of your other hobbies?
---I am actually a small business owner. I own my own handmade skin care company. I have a beach store in Morro Bay, CA and am in the process of opening our larger headquarters in Hickory, NC right now! www.artisansoapery.com - That takes up most of my hobby time, but on the rare occasion I have more time to myself, I am a licensed skydiver and enjoy jumping out of airplanes in my free time, haha. My husband likes bushcraft and fishing.
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
---We have two awesome kids. Landon is 7 years old and Olivia is 4. We have two dogs, Dexter and Kaila. We also have 4 rabbits! Mama is Sally, she's an English spot. Her 3 babies are Pinky, Jet, and Jack. And now we've added our 3 hens! Our animals all get together very well, which makes us happy. I'm enjoying the quiet life on our new land with our tiny farm, haha.
