I am a new BYC member, even though I've been reading things on the site for several years. We don't actually have chickens, yet. I was hoping to get them sometime SOON, but I live in South Carolina and some of you may know we've been having some weather issues lately. It's managed to stop our coop building in its tracks. The only farm animals we have right now are 2 BEAUTIFUL 7-week-old pygmy goat bucklings, Jannick (YAH nik) and Jaeger (YAY ger). Oddly enough, it was a coincidence that my sons John and Jacob (also both "J" names by coincidence) named them "J" and "J". They both have a thing for Scandinavian names. Bottle feeding these boys has been awesome for me since I'm at an age (54) where more babies is highly unlikely. :( My hubby is very glad of that! Getting the boys now was really against his will, but he let me do it anyway. Now, I'm pushing for the chickens and a doeling or 2 SOON. Bless his heart, he loves animals, but you know how it is when you're dirt poor. At the beginning, it's all expense, and no pay back. Luckily, we are scavenging most of our building materials from my Mom's old stuff and my sister who is doing a lot of remodeling...and my Grandmother's 200 year old farm across the dirt road from us.

Well, I know I've been long-winded, but the e-mail said to introduce myself. I tend to talk too much to cover for my shyness. I hope this is enough info for an introduction. Looking forward to making friends both here and on BackYardHerds which I haven't joined, yet.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) Sounds like things are progressing mice on your farm and you are making good use in recycling materials. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hello :frow and welcome to BYC!

Welcome to Backyard chickens. The internet is great for shy people. I was one of them but, the folks are so nice at BYC, I got braver and actually learned how to use the computer. I don't think any of my chicken folk friends on BYC would say I was shy at all now. You'll do just fine.

Don't be shy about jumping in here and sharing stories, pictures or questions...there are a lot of friendly, helpful members and a ton of information available. It sounds like things are moving along well with your set up and animals. How fun for your kids!

Make yourself at home, it's nice to have you here!
