Hi my name is John and my family and I live in Marysville Ohio. We have raised many other animals (were down to 4 horses, 2 goats a dog and a cat) but not chickens, we have a coop indoor outdoor and the space to allow chickens to do what they do best. I have been reading about the Buckeye breed... Would 24 hens be too many to start with? Well just wanted to say hi

Hello and welcome to BYC

Well, 24 would be a handful, but manageable. I had over 100 chickens at one point! LOL

Howdy from Florida!!! An to answer your question I would say this
1 have as many chickens as u want as long as your coop has the recommended sq footage.
2 if your kids help I'm sure it will be easyer to take care of the chickens instead of doin it on your own
