Hello and welcome from Ohio...so glad you joined BYC. I have 30ish chickens and other than the price of feed they are no problem at all. Good luck with your new chickens

Hi John. I am a buckeye chicken fan as well. Feel free to join the American Buckeye Club for all kinds of info on the breed, multiple breeders, and just an all around fun group of people to converse with. We have a facebook group, a yahoo group, and a blog. The ABC blog is the best place to start. http://americanbuckeyeclub.blogspot.com/ I started with 6 chicks and now have over 50. If all you want is eggs and dont want to wait for 5-6 months to get eggs, you may have a tough time finding 24 mature hens right now. You may be able to find a few but most people already sold their non breeding hens and roosters or ate them before winter. You may get lucky though.
