Hey I'm new here. I've been snooping around for about a month and just now posted for the first time. I have a small flock of silkies, 3 white and 2 buff. And I have a turkey. My husband named her Daisy Duke, lol. The whites are about 5 months old and the buffs are about 4. They stay in the run for most of the day, but I let them out in the yard for a couple hours everyday when I get home from work. Just bought them a new coop but it's been raining a lot so I haven't had time to attach it to the run and let them get used to it.
This is a great sight and anything I have a question this is the first place I come!!!

Welcome to Backyard chickens, sounds like you have a nice flock of silkies, and one turkey. Because silkies aren't flyers (they do jump high) and their vision is often obscured by their crests/beards, they are not good candidates for free ranging unless they are closely supervised. White/light colored one are especially open to predator attack - as they stick out well . Wheras in winter they would have some good camouflage going for them against snow.

You may want to check out the "Silkie thread," for more information about this delightful breed.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined the flock!

glad you decided to join us.

Likely you have already explored the forums and learning center articles.

From your other thread post: If you want help in gender ID for Jasmine, try posting a pic under "what breed, what gender" forum and someone likely can give the boy vs girl answer.
