My name is Shelley. I got my chick's back in March and four of them are just starting to lay. I have the following:
Rhode Island Red - Jasmine
Light Braham - Fred
Easter Eggers - Lucy and Darcy
Red Sexlinks - Pip and Flip
Black Star - Lady
Wyandotte - Peepers
What we think is a Leghorn - Butthead
This site is so helpful. I love it!

glad you have joined us, and congrats on starting to get the eggs.

Love your pick in birds. You will have a lot of eggs! And, the wyondotte will probably go broody for you if you want to get some chicks. Butthead?

I love my leghorns, they are always sweet. :) Bossy sometimes to the others, but they don't hurt them, just look at them. The younger birds know who is boss.

Welcome to the BYC flock. You have aroused my curiosity - now I must see what Butthead looks like. Please?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I love your chickens names. You have some excellent layers. Black Star is one of several labels under which some hatcheries marketed their Black Sex Links which are friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I raised them for years (along with dozens of breeds and hybirds), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 large brown eggs per hen per year. You should get loads of eggs from that girl. :o) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
