Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm not the best at intros so I'm glad for the sample questions.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first few chicks in April 2021. I've lost a couple to my dog (lessons learned there) but love the ones I have.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 4 currently, with 17ish more on the way in the spring.
(3) What breeds do you have? I have a frizzle bantam cochin rooster who is protective but takes care of his ladies; a super sweet black australorp, a blue Australorp, and a lavender orpington.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love the life and energy they bring. They are so fun to visit multiple times a day to see how they are. Plus, it's a mental boost to see chickens come running as soon as they see you.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm trying to get a garden going, as well as an orchard. I also read and play video games quite a but. No, I'm not a millennial but almost that age group.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a most-of-the-time wonderful husband and 2 kids. We just moved to some bare land and plan to make it a beautiful homestead. Our plan is to do a little at a time to make sure we actually can do it before adding on.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have had quite a few questions and done research on some chicken stuff and always ended up on this site. The logical next step was to make an account so I could join and post questions when I need.
