Hi all!

My name is Gary, and I live just outside of Baltimore, MD. I just acquired my first two hens two days ago, Neela and Natalie (named by my four year old daughter!). I am happy to join this forum, and look forward to learning everything I can about backyard chick keeping!
Hi Gary!! i’m just north of you in Cecil County Maryland. welcome, neighbor!

Hello Gary, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You might want to consider adding another pair to the first two you got. If anything happens to one of them the other one's going to be left all alone and that is no situation for a chicken to be left in.
2+2=4
4+4=8
8+8=16
16 + 16=
chicken math is 🤩 fun

Thank you for the advice. I do have a third hen that should be joining us sometime in the next few days. I just don't want to overcrowd the coop and run. They aren't terribly big.

Unrelated, but I love your username! I had a dobie growing up-best dogs ever!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens Gary. This is a great place to explore and hang out. That is a great Dad you are teaching her young.
Thank you. We live across the street from a farm (which is where we bought our chickens) and the first thing she always wants to do when we visit is hold the chicks. When the opportunity came to have some chickens of our own I had to jump on it!
