Hi everyone!
Totally new to chickens!!! We've been chicken parents for about 3 weeks now. Got 4 chicks and a Hen off a lady down the road. I have absolutely no idea what Breed and am actually starting to worry that there may be one or two roosters in there lol ... I'm on 2 acres, but don't really think a rooster would be appreciated where I am (... but that might be a different post lol). My girls are absolutely in love with our new additions. And my goodness I never realised what time wasters they can be? I find myself watching them for ages - and all the antics they get up to. I gave them yogurt last week for the first time - simple things like watching them eat that crack me up! Or watching them go nuts over a giant worm I found lol... they went so crazy, I ended up having to go dig up more worms so they each had one. The Hen is just awesome, so protective. This morning I could hear her squawking her head off and went out there and there was a magpie hanging around and trying to get into the coop. Baby chicks were hiding under the nesting box area and mum was NOT happy! I managed to give them some banana and calm her down and she forgot all about it lol ... Anyway, thought I'd add a few happy snaps!!!!! We have Gertrude (mumma chicken), Henrietta, Chickalena (who from another mumma), Maisy and Chicky-Cluck-Cluck ... yes.. my 7 and 4 year old daughters named the babies lol
