Hi all!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! If you haven't seen it, there is a nice article in the Learning Center on combining flocks https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock Depending on where the older chicks are coming from you might also want to consider doing a health quarantine. Otherwise that is enough of an age difference where you might want to do the gradual introduction where the two flocks are able to see each other but no touching for awhile, through wire seem to work best, ie dividing the coop into two sections or keeping the new/younger ones in a cage inside the coup for a couple of weeks. The chickens will get to know each other and sort of work out a pecking order before actually coming in contact with each other. After a week or two, letting them free range together is a good idea and should help... It will take a couple of weeks to get the pecking order sorted out.

So, I ended up getting three more chicks from the same place I got the first three. Got a white leghorn, another buff o, and an australorp. They are a bit younger so they will be in the brooder a bit and then I'll probably intro them cautiously. I am so excited! I have a busy day planned tomorrow and all I want to do is hang out with my chickens lol.

Also, someone was telling me leghorns are noisy. Is this true?

No experience personally with leghorns but I've been told the same thing, also that they can be quite skittish. At any rate, congratulations on getting your new birds! It must be so exciting getting to know them all and watching them grow up

Yea that is why I only got one. I love the way they look though, and hopefully with a leghorn I'll be getting one reliable egg a day, lol! my older chicks have more feathers coming in and the new hampshires are starting to get a gorgeous red color on their backs.
