I'm new and just wanted to say.
I am originally from England, and moved to Arkansas 4 years ago. Then about a year ago my mom got married and we moved to Missouri.
Well I had never had chickens before, but my new stepdad had lots of them, and me and mum soon took over taking care of them. Well this spring I hatched my first two lots of chicks, its been alot of fun raising them. We also had a game hen hatch 8 chicks around the same time, we found them and added them to our hatchlings (sadly she disapeared, we think she got killed protecting her chicks).
We are in the process of adding some members, since are numbers seem to be dwindling a bit (we live out in the country so you can imagen, as well as having a 7 month old border collie who we are teaching to LEAVE TO CHICKENS ALONE, lol)
we will hopefully be picking up some light Brahma hens in the next couple of days.
One of the chicks I hatched is called Fred and she is VERY friendly, she will jump on your head if you not careful, she actually gets a bit annoying, lol. we didnt handle her any more than the others though, she just a bit odd, lol.
As far as we know all the chickens are just mixes, although I do recognise some breeds in them.
Anyway hope thats not too long, I'm just happy to find a forum where I can get chicken advice
