Hi I’m Pyewacketsmom. I have three 4 week old chicks. Pyewacket is the showgirl, Zoe and Bo are silkies. They are pets. I have raised many strange not quite domesticated pets in the past. Many bird breeds including pheasant, parrots, cockatiel named Food. pot belly pig, lizards, iguana to name the few in my adult life. When I brought the chicks home my cockatiel, whom may I add hates everyone and voices it loudly… took on mommy role to the chicks from day one. I had to move him, yes him in with the chicks when they were moved to their enclosure. They’ve been a happy family for a week now. The enclosure in which they will spend their life will be heated year round and indoors. It has a small growing greens greenhouse to forage. A small area with course sand to bath, perches and a sectional chick couch. I made them swings and hung them at different levels and their nesting area is a castle type house.they have a linoleum walkway and plenty of people time. We call it Chix Palace. I’m retired and spend my time crafting, creating something artistic or just watching good horrors and psychological thrillers on the idiot box. I prefer music. Usually old time rock. Some heavy metal. I’m very new at raising this breed of critter but like our 22 year old cockatiel, they will be spoiled rottin with love. I do make swings, toys and little fun stuff for chicken play if anyone has been looking but can’t find it. I’m also in the process of making oregano oil for daily use for immune and parasites. As my baby’s grow I’m sure I will be picking your brains for information. It’s been a pleasure. Just sn FYI I’m not a huge chatter online so don’t take it personally if I don’t join in or take part. I’m a sidelines kinda gal.
