If you are waning great egg layers, there are certainly a great variety out there. Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns..I love the Leghorn..mine have been very sweet. Red Sex Links..Australorp, Black Sex Links. These birds are also of good body weight if you are wanting them for eating also. Great broody hens..as you probably already know..those bantams are great at it, but there are several Large Fowl also that can be on the broody side. I actually have a pretty blue Olive Egger out there right now that thinks the middle of winter is a great time to go broody! The Buff Orpintons, Sussex, Wyondottes, just to name a few of pretty Large Fowl that will lay, and possibly go broody. The Wyondotte being the one more likely to go broody. :)
