Well, I don't have a flock yet, just a plan for late 2014/early 2015. Should I get chicks and get a straight pullet to show them the ropes or buy a roo and some hens?

If you wanted another chicken to show them the ropes you would need a broody hen to put them under at night or your best bet if you did not want to raise the chicks yourself, A hen and Rooster would be better and let the hen hatch her own eggs.

OK! I guess I'll get a Silkie Roo and Hen and see how things go!

OK! I guess I'll start off with a Silkie pair and a hen of some sort(maybe a rescue).
