Hi everyone! From Indiana

I have a few too many roosters right now and it gives me anxiety trying to figure out who to keep and who goes. I just like them all so far. I hope your fears are settled and verified that they went to a good home. Don't blame yourself either if you find out that's not the case--it's not your fault and you gave them a wonderful home while they were in your care.

Thanks for joining! It's nice to have you here and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
Oh it's so difficult isn't it? I ordered 6 baby chicks from a farm in CA, knowing at least 1 would have the chance of being a boy. I ordered 3 guaranteed female breeds and 3 BCM, they gave me 2 extra chicks- straight run, so then one of the girls ended up being a boy! So did 2 bcm and one of the freebies. So I did not plan for the surprise of half of my chicks being boys!

Of course the boy who was supposed to be a girl was the most social, sweet, uh just love him. ❤️ The rest of the three boys were so sweet too, funny and silly!

It's definitely tough with all the surprises and whatnot thrown our way!

Your message is very kind, thank you for that! I hope you figure out which roo to keep, I know it's so difficult!

Thank you!

Thank you!! It's so tough! I have had to rehome 7 roosters in my years as a chicken mom, never easier! But this last time was indeed the hardest! Aren't they just beautiful? Just wish I could turn their volume down a bit lol 😆
I have 11 gorgeous roosters from one to four years old. Some of them crow and some of them scream. I enjoy them but I too would like to turn the volume down. 🤣

Oh wow!! Lol how funny! Some sound almost human like don't they? 😆
My dad and my two older brothers had deep voices that carried well, so when my younger brother's voice was changing he would get louder and louder to try and be heard. It always sounded like screaming. My large rooster sounds like that. He just yells. The bantam boys have nicer voices. None of mine will win a contest. I've always thought I'd like to have a laughing rooster/Ayam ketawa.

That's hilarious!! I always got a kick out of the roosters yells! Everyone else in my house- not so much!

Hi and welcome! I was thinking in rehoming a cockerel but I couldn't, I hope your rooster are happy in his new house and your previous roosters too.
Thank you so much! It's such a hard decision to make! I have always wanted a rooster, but they all annoyed everyone (except me), I have this sad feeling I missed out on a wonderful pet! Thank you so much, I hope so too!

Hiya, Maria, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I think most of us know how hard it is to rehome our roosters. I've cuddled them before handing them over with tears in my eyes. Some have sent updates or a picture and I'm so happy for them that they got great homes with their own hens.

Of course, there's always the chance some wound up in the slow cooker, but I just like to think that never happens. :old
Hello, thank you!! Aw yes, and so happy and thankful when people do that! That's a really great thing!

Oh gosh, ha, I would like to think the same!!!
