Hi everyone I live in S. Florida and I have button quails. I really need lots of advice and love the homey warm feeling of these forums. And I found out information I needed like take the eggs out everyday. Plus on youtube how to tell if they have chicks in them.

I can't tell who is laying eggs and I know it takes 5 or 6 of them to make one chicken egg. I am an accidental owner my granddaughter had one then moved, and recently I felt sorry for my little girl....crying....ahahaha it was a boy, so I purchased 3 girls for him.

Funny one of the girls seems like the boss apple sauce not him. I am not seeking to breed them I just wanted to make my bird not feel so lonely. However I do want to try the eggs and don't want to get sick doing it.

So I am wondering if taking them out everyday and refrigerating them, how long are they good in refrigerator? As I need to collect many to make eggs for my husband and I.

I feed them meal worms, finch food, and I cooked chicken eggs for them for the calcium I read that I could cook the eggs for 20 mins at 200 degree to sterilize them and use them for calcium for the eggs.

My name is Adreanna

Adriana, or you could just put out a container of crushed oyster shell for the hens. If they need additional calcium beyond laying feed - they will take it free choice.
