I'm a brand new chicken owner. After years of consideration I threw caution to the wind ran to the local farm supply and got my little flock of 3 on April 15 2011. I picked one of each color. Had the clerk ring up whatever they needed and was on my way. Hours later it occurred to me I should have asked if they were male or female -oops! So I've been biting my nails hoping for girls (I think the neighbors would complain about a rooster).
I'm told I have a Rhode island red. A barred rock and a brahma

These new babies came home to 2 house rabbits and an uncaged cockatiel (3 chickens in the livingroom seem par for the course). I started out life studying to be an exotic animal vet then changed directions went to beauty school changed direction again and got a teaching credential and masters in education. Unfortunately california decided educating children wasn't important and laid off me and thousands of other teachers. So my friend and I opened a preschool (where the chicks and other animals spend a lot of time). Anyone living with me is accustom to traveling and unfamiliar faces. The babies seem fine with it but noting how rapidly they are growing idk how many more times they'll be able to visit the kids.

That's pretty much my life in a nutshell. I'm excited to watch these little balls of fluff grow into insect eating machines! Lol thanks for having me and please excuse my chicken ignorance-i-apparently- like to learn things the hard way! Ha ha
