Zero. You can never get all the poop out of the sand, it won't cushion landings very well and will add a lot of weight.

Have you considered installing poop boards instead? If you also install an attach predator proof run with a solid roof you will have very little poop in the coop litter as, as soon as the birds come off the roost in the morning they head out to the run. I have my coop/run set up this way and it's extremely easy to maintain. I scoop the boards every morning which takes about 5 minutes. I clean the coop out once a year.

I will have 3 roosting boards and an automatic door for them to go out. We are building the final steps this weekend, we will have a yard for them to be in all day then back in to roost and give me eggs.
