Brand new to BYC and from the mountains east of Albuquerque. Just about done with our coop-have 9 chickens, but have to get rid of several because too many roosters. Lesson learned...won't buy from TSC again. Looking at getting some more hens soon though. Anyone have any suggestions of a good place in the Albuquerque are to get pullets or hens? Thank you!!

TSC probably buys straight run chicks so you are going to end up with 50% roosters. One way to eliminate that problem is to buy sex linked birds but you must know what pullets look like in the various breeds as they help will not. CL is always an option. You might have some local chicken swaps where you can pick up slightly older pullets that will help you get only pullets. I have gotten all my chicks from Privett out of Portales but they will have a 5 chick minimum and you still have a 10% chance of getting roosters. Check out the NM and Colorado Where are You? posts. I know there are always chickens for sale in the Pueblo area is you come up this way.
