Hi, jennifer

Nice to hear from someone local. We have had our little flock (5 girls) for a year now and still loving it! Not on BYC very often (I tend to come looking here only for problems - thankfully not very often :) How about you?

I'm actually here quite often lol. This year we started hatching some shipped eggs from ebay to get some chickens not commonly found local. That was quite a learning curve and has kept me here often lol. I also talk to some others on the northern California thread. It's really nice to see another from the same town. I've not met anyone yet even with as much as I'm here. We have a flock of about 40 chickens right now. We don't plan on keeping them all though. Just letting them grow out a bit before we decide who to keep. :)

Wow, sounds like fun! My dream is to quit working, have more property, more chickens, maybe even a few other farm type animals (my son desperately wants goats:) until then it's work, kid stuff(school, soccer, Boy Scouts) and house work. Oh well. One day my husband and I will find that little farm house somewhere.... :)

Lol that's our dream too. We just bought our house a few years ago but we are planning on fixing it up and selling in the next few years. We also want to find a place with more property, maybe a barn and lots of outbuildings. It's going to be awhile though. Eventually we would like to be self sustainable. We are vegetarians so with eggs and a veggie garden we may never need a grocery store again lol. :)
