I am somewhat a newbie whereas my husband, Chuck, was raised on a farm. We have had what I affectionately call the Divas (six of them) for over a year now. I found this site while I was trying to find out if celery really is okay to give to the Divas. And the answer is no, the Divas could care less for celery. Our flock consists of 2 Golden Buffs, 2 Delawares, 1 Buff Brahma, and 1 Welsumer. We aren't just a flock; we are a herd as well with 2 Pygmy goats, 3 sheep, and 2 Great Pyrs to round out the family. Oh, and how bad is a chicken obsession when you start raising your own live mealworms? Yes, I have live mealworms in my garage!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! What a lovely flock you have there! A great mix. I love goats too but just don't have the room at the moment but certainly hope to get some in the future, I find them a fascinating creature.

Yes sounds like you really have the chicken bug with your own meal worm farm!! Mine go crazy over meal worms they love them so much.

Wishing you the very best of luck in the future. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Welcome to BYC, Sharon. Glad you decided join our flock. Golden Buff is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links which are laying machines. You should get loads of large, brown eggs from those two girls. :o) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chickens.
