I have read countless BYC posts and finally decided to join. I am one month into being a first time chicken keeper. Right now we have Lavender Orpington pullets, 4 girls ( Hennifer, Abirdduh, Yolko-ohno & Shanaynay) and one boy, (Inigo Montoya), but we call him Haha, because he doesn't crow, he just says HaaaaHaaaa! Does anyone else have a rooster that doesn't have a typical crow?

With a name like Inigo Montoya in the flock, you must be a Princess Bride fan! What a fun movie.

We don't have a rooster but I've read that they often sound a bit "off" when first starting to crow. With some practice, it gets better. Lavender Orps are pretty girls, hope you're enjoying them.
