Hi everyone!

Hello all!

Brand spanking new to the chicken thing here, but loving our first month with them. We got 9 1 day old chicks and are just amazed at how fast they grow. We wanted a variety of colors, so we got:

2 easter eggers
Rhode Island Red
Silver Laced Wyandotte
Black laced Wyandotte
Buff Orpington
Dark Brahmna
Light Brahma
Australourp

Most are super friendly and race over to us when we put our hand into the cage. The RIR is a bit skittish and the black laced still screams and flaps its wings like it is being attack.

We are on Long Island and our county has a ban on backyard roosters, so we are hoping that they are all females. Agway claimed 96% rate of sexing, we will see.

If there are any really good threads/videos etc...that a newbie like I am should pay attention to, please let me know. They were a gift for my wife for Mother's Day and she will likely be posting too many pics of them over time.

Total I have 4 Indian runners, 4 call ducks now I got some new girls yesterday. 3 wynadottes 2 americanas 6 silkies, I had some polish but they got taken by a fox along with some other hens.... I am trying to find some more polish and americanas. :( I miss my polish so much... Waaaaaaaa
How do you like your Americana's? I think I may have some.

I may have some EEs too! I really wanted some light Brahmas. Are they nice?

Our Brahmas seem to be possessive of our attention at times lol. If I reach into the cage and pet one of the other chicks, one or both will often race over and push their way to the front. It is pretty amusing actually.
