I finally registered an account, but I've been reading all the forums before I even brought home my first flock! I have a mixed flock of 4 pullets; 2 leghorns, Easter Egger and Australorp all hatched 2/3/17 from the Baxter Barn farm in WA. I have learned so much from you all this year and love the platform of this site, I am looking forward to learning and sharing with you. I really enjoy my girls, they are my only pets and I'm so excited that just this last few weeks I've started getting eggs daily. I've wanted hens since I was a child, but we moved to often, but now I'm a hen mom! :celebrate

Welcome to BYC. We are glad your enjoying the site as well as enjoying watching your girls. They can do some crazy things to make us laugh. Mine chicks just turned 20 weeks Monday and today I gave them raisins for the first time. They went nuts over them running and trying to get them all. I think I had about 15 if that many that my granddaughter dropped. So we went out and fed them to the chicks.

Congratulations, glad you joined us!

Thank you! It's exciting to be able to interact. Not sure what took me so long to join... mine love raisins too, they dance when they get sunflower seeds and raisins.

I have not tried sunflower seeds yet I guess soon I have to get some and see if they like them.

I buy from the bulk section at my feed store and mix it together. I got suckered the first time I bought a treat mix for my girls, paid 5x what I did for bulk.

Oh thanks I will have to see if mine sells it. I get my stuff from TSC for the feed but got a small bag of raisins for my granddaughter. I wasn't even thinking about the chickens eating them at first till she dropped them on the floor and I didn't want to just waist them. So next time we go up I will see if they sell the sunflower seeds and raisins in bulk. Thanks again for letting me know.
