Hi All,

So excited to be a part of this community! My boyfriend and I have just started our backyard chicken adventure. We have four ladies and a rooster at this time.

They are all Easter Eggers who are just over one year old. Our new puppy, Theo (am adorable Australian Shepherd) is also learning all about chickens. He really wants to play with them but is going well and practicing approaching quietly and just watching.

I have always wanted backyard chickens. We live in town right now but have dreams of moving out into a hobby farm in the next few years.

There are lots of people in the community who have backyard chickens but we are the first in our social circles. This community has already helped us so much and hopefully we can give back too.

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad your dog is doing well with the chicks. I was scared our cats would want to go after the young chicks - when they were really small the cats could see into the brooder but not get in - but now they're 6 weeks and the cat is totally chill and will wander the yard during their free range time.
