My name is Tammy. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your community.
I am fairly new to raising chickens. We had chickens growing up and when my kids were little, but I didn't do much of the handling. Last December, my husband and I bought 5 acres and inherited 7 chickens. We have 1 Orpington, 2 Plymouth Rock, 1 Rhode Island Red, and 3 Americana.
These girls are so much fun! They follow me and talk to me. They make me laugh. When I close them in for the night, I tell them goodnight and they gently coo to me. It is the sweetest thing.
Of course, collecting eggs is great!
I enjoy the country life. There is so much to do. We have focused on getting things in order before branching out to our goals of gardening - vegetable and flower, putting in a natural swimming pool, building a barn and new chicken coop, putting in a basketball court, volleyball court, horseshoe pit, walking path, and the list goes on.
I enjoy gardening, sewing, embroidery, canning, music, horseback riding, and playing with my grandkids!
I am the wife of a great husband. We have 7 children and 19 grandchildren with another on the way! We also have 3 large dogs. I am an Executive Administrative Assistant for a large oil company and my husband is in maintenance for our church. We are in the process of buying a food truck. That is our next venture!
I found this website searching for plans for chicken coops. I look forward to learning how to take care of my chickens better .
