Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
They should either have a predator proof coop with 3-4 sq ft per bird and a much larger run attached (10 sq ft per bird in the run) or a larger predator proof coop and free range.

I always loved chickens but the timing was never right now I have plenty of time in this corona crises.
