I am new here as being “official” but I have referred back to this site often when I started my journey. I have chickens as a kid and now as an adult I am learning how much more (and actually not as much as I thought) there is to it.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I got my first 4 australorps, thought one was eaten, turns out it lived as an only child in the neighbors yard until it finally disappeared and probably merged with one of the other many flocks in this hood. Then I got 4 more babies,2 Rhode Island reds and two Plymouth rocks. They are all laying now and are about 5 to 6 months

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

7 - the 7 sisters :)

(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love all of their personalities and the delicious eggs.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I work from home and often pull out my lawn chair and open the gate for them to graze in the front yard gardens. We have about a quarter acre for them to free range on. We have named all of our girls: Karen, Mona, Mauve, Melba, Lindley, Pearl, and Shirley.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Facebook group called Florida Gardening Friends recommended I come here for advice and it has been incredible what I’ve learned! Thanks!
