I am not new to chickens but it has been a lot of years since I have raised them. My flock is a 13 chicken brown layer mix. I purchased them from Meyer Hatcher 3 months ago. I have 4 Comets, 3 Buckeyes, 2 Cuck Coo Maran, 1 RIR, 1 New Hampshire Rd, 1 Barred Rock and 1 Barred Rock Rooster. So they gave me a pretty good mix. I live in SE Georgia and that is a new aspect in my chicken farming. I used to be in Ohio so there are different problems and benefits. I am raising them in a 4x8 raised chicken cook with a pretty descent run and we do free range (most days) but are a little guarded with that because my neighbor has dogs that are a concern.
