Super excited to be here! 
My name is Andrea, and my husband and I have three kids who we homeschool. Answers to the questions below.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My parents are long-time chicken owners, but they got them when I was a college student, so I wasn't involved much at the start. (Other than naming their first black star Attila the Hen.
) I've spent a lot of time over the years learning from my mom, and we finally live in an area where they're allowed. And our neighbors are giving us their coop. Yay! 
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Healthy, delicious eggs! Plus, chickens are so great. They're cheerful, happy, and so much fun to watch and care for.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
What is this thing called hobbies?
I have three kids (9, 6, 3) who we homeschool, and life gets super crazy and busy.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I've already answered parts of this, but my husband is a lab tech for a large hospital, and I'm a USA Today bestselling author of fantasy and sweet romance. The only other pets we have are hermit crabs. (I'm a HUGE hermit crab enthusiast! Did you know they can live for 40+ years if cared for correctly? I sure didn't when we got ours!)
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
