Hi! My name is Karrie and I am a new chicken owner. I have learned a lot from this forum over the last couple of weeks and can’t wait to learn more!

In fact I just picked up my first chicks! I originally only wanted 6 hens but when I called the hatchery to order, I ordered 8. 4 Production Red’s and 4 Gold Links. A couple days later I called and ordered two more… Americana chicks. When I went to pick them up at the hatchery I couldn’t resist and got 3 more Americana’s. So I went from planning for 6 to getting 13! I luckily or rather unluckily live about 15 miles from a hatchery. I can see how some of you say they are addictive!

We live in Minnesota and I have two children, 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 calves and 1 horse. According to my husband I have maxed my limit on animals/pets.

The kids love the chicks and my daughter has picked out one of the americanas as "Her's" and named it Flicka. None of the others have names yet, but they will soon.
